Fountain

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.

“All very well”, you may respond to this verse, “but we face death whether we’re wise or not, so what’s the point being wise?” The Bible teaches that we either die eternally in hell, or else death is simply falling asleep until Jesus wakes us up forevermore. If we’re wise, we drink from the fountain of eternal spiritual life.

There is death in the world because of our sinfulness. So the snares of death are sins that would drag us down to hell if we don’t repent. Grumbling, greed, lust and lies all need to be dealt with.

Thankfully, Jesus gave His life for the sins of the world. So if we trust in Him, all our deathly sins are dealt with once and for all. Jesus died so that we might die to sin; and He rose victorious over death so that we can be too.

These teachings that I bring from God’s word are wise not because they’re intellectual or particularly well written, but simply because the good news of Jesus is true. We need to believe in Him for eternal life. We need to drink deeply of the fountain of life, the Word of God.

“Lord God our King, we thank You for defeating death and giving us wisdom to come to You for eternal life. To Your praise and glory, amen”
